Young Adult Special Our Young Adult Special was a huge success -- we saw some new people and some familiar faces and its nice to work with everyone again! We will probably be running a similar program soon so let us know if you are interested!

Senior Rep Program The Senior Representative Program is going great and we'd like to say thanks to the senior representatives for all of their work. Also, thanks to all the clients who have responded so quickly, but don't worry there is still time to get the summer discounts. Visit our Senior Rep page for more information.

Studio Changes The summer months have brought on lots of changes around DNP! We've made some changes to our staffing positions which you can check out at our Get to Know Us page. Our studio lighting system has also been upgraded, and is now wireless! This means no more dragging around power packs and sync chords which makes shooting faster and our clients can get more out of their session.

Free Sessions in May for Young Adults EXTENDED to June!! Our Young Adult Special was such a hit that we decided to extend it into July!! Keep up to date on the count of available sessions on our homepage, and call (and look below) for more details.

Free Sessions in May for Young Adults!! We are currently trying to expand and diversify our portfolio and would love to have your help in doing so! After going through our current work we noticed a gap in our portfolio of clients 19-29 years old. Many people don't think about it, but this is often the best time to capture your youth and in what better of a way than with a fun and creative custom portrait session! You can be the subject of dynamic magazine style or fine art images that you'll have to remember for the rest of your life. Free sessions must be conducted Tuesday through Friday between the times of 9am and 12 pm (make-up available some days). Sessions available are 30-45 minutes long with no minimum portrait order. However, if you meet one of our normal package minimums, you will receive 20% off regular print prices. Feel free to give us a call at the studio if you have any questions!

NEW Three-Pose Composites Our three-pose composites (8x20 vertical and 9x16 horizontal) with three 4x5's have been so popular that we have created larger versions for those wanting to use them in larger spaces!

We now have a 9x24 vertical version with three 5x6.25 images (which are proportional to 8x10, whereas 5x7 is not), an 11x22horizontal version and a horizontal 14x32 version with three 8x10's. These are great for display on walls, over shelves, entertainment consoles, and similar locations.

16x24 Designer Series We are really excited about a new line of designer portraits we are creating. The 16x24 ratio provides additional horizontal or vertical space that can be used to transform a regularly proportioned portrait into an art piece. This is done using rules of art composition such as Rule-of-Thirds and other related principles. We are focusing initially on a series that positions the subject or key elements of the subject (for example, eyes) at a position that creates a large amount of secondary space. This in turn creates a direction of flow from primary subject to secondary subject or simply adds to an already existing sense of movement in the image.

Ok, in simpler terms let us create an art piece from your images using this exciting new composition.

Here we have used the 16x24 format in order to extend the scene along the direction of the subjects gaze and the corresponding direction of light streaking through the scene. The result is an enhancement of the feeling of solitude and reflection of the subject as well as a striking sense of movement from left to right in the image.

In this simple piece, the obvious emphasis is upon the eyes and the movement of the hair - a classic case of primary and secondary subject. The elongated crop allows us to place the eyes at an intersection of the third lines (top right) placing them in position of power. The horizontal crop adds emphasis to the horizontal lines of the eyes. The extended space provided by the elongated crop allows the viewers eyes to move along with the movement of the hair.

DNP welcomes Becky Casey We are excited to have our new intern, Becky Casey on board. A 2007 McNeil senior client of ours, Becky is now attending St. Edwards University and will be working with us part time until the end of the semester.

New Printer! We recently purchased a new printer, the Epson 2800. Although the average client will not see a significant difference, the extra ink cartridge (9 total) results in improved black-and-white tonal range and more uniform gloss characteristics. We're excited to offer our clients this improved technology!

Gift Cards Expire SOON!! Gift cards received through your schools senior representative expire on March 15th, so schedule your seniors session today to take advantage of the $75 bonus!!

There is still time to get Christmas pictures!! We currently have spots available for all types of sessions (make-up is optional, but available) if you're interested in getting pictures back in time to give as Christmas gifts. Schedule your session for sometime before December 15th and we can have your final images available for pick-up on December 23rd!!

Post Christmas Session Information Perfect if you have family in town!! We will be open for portrait sessions on December 26th and 27th. Christy, the make up artist, will not be available but otherwise we will be offering all of our regular services. We will possibly be open on December 28th as well, but this is yet to be determined. The studio will be closed for sessions from December 29th through January 2nd, but we will be back in service on January 3rd.

25% off Gift Certificates!!! We have gift certificates available for purchase. You have the choice of purchasing a specific dollar amount, or purchasing a package (in other words, no dollar amount is specified. Instead, the certificate grants the recipient to make-up and a 30 minutes session, for example). Certificates are good for the next year (they will expire January 1st, 2009). However, gift certificates purchased for use before March 1st, 2008 will be 25% off.

Gift Boxed Prints for Christmas Don't spend your time shopping for frames and wrapping your gift pictures... let us do it for you! As you may already know, we are now offering individually gift sized prints (8x10 and smaller) flush mounted on archival art board and framed with glass (with spacers separating the print finish from the glass for protection). The frame comes packaged in a heavy weight black embossed box with silver tissue and a decorative bow.

If you've already purchased your prints individually (not gift boxed) don't worry, you can bring them back in and we'd be more than happy to mount and frame them for you. The prices listed above are for gift boxes purchased at the time of print, so they include the price of the print. However, below you will find the prices for gift boxes purchased after the fact and therefore, not including the print price (which you've already paid!)

Now offering HOLIDAY GREETING CARDS!! We're excited to announce that we are now offering holiday greeting cards through StyleArt!! Next time you are in the studio, ask to see the greeting card binder, with a huge variety of styles and designs available to our clients. The cards are slightly more expensive than what you would purchase at a local lab, but the cards are great quality and much more detailed than what you might find elsewhere.

Also, if you are interested in getting pictures in time for holiday greeting cards, now is the time to book your session!! Our Saturday appointments are filling up quickly, and so are many of our late afternoon weekday appointments so you'll want to call ASAP to set up your session. Don't forget, we also have the free Saturday Morning Special running throughout the holiday season, perfect for families wanting a basic family portrait.

Mass Print Pricing for greeting cards - As an alternative to purchasing customized greeting cards for the holiday season, many clients opt to slip prints in with their greeting cards. During the holiday season we offer discounted prices on our 4x5 prints for the purpose of use in holiday cards. These prices are not final and are subject to change:

Senior Website Make Over! - We're very excited by the recently revamped senior section of our website! We've added a bunch of new poses and looks and put up some fresh faces! This addition is especially helpful for our out of town clients who are unable to come in for a consultation prior to their session. The original senior page consisted of one page of over 200 thumbnails, which took quite awhile to load on most computers. Now, we have split the page into three separate pages of thumbnails for easier navigation and shorter load time. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or comments on this change or how we can improve any other part of our website, feel free to email us.

Protective Sprays - We're really excited about some new finishing sprays that we have picked up to go with our new fine art paper! They put a luxurious finish on the fine art paper that protects them against moisture and UV light, and allows you to frame the prints without glass (which avoids any reflection of the glass and adds to the deep richness of the fine art paper).

Fine Art Wallets - These sprays have allowed us to start producing wallets on thick stock fine art paper. They're really cool, because you can handle them easier (without worry of damage to the corners, edges, ect) and they resemble miniature art pieces. Customize the Music Played During Your Session!! As you might have already read below, we have recently switched from the traditional CD player to an iPod and have been offering our clients the ability to specify what type of music they'd prefer to hear during their session. Thanks to a suggestion recently made by one of our clients, we are now offering clients the opportunity to bring their own iPod (or other digital "jukebox" like device) for their session! If you are or think you would be interested, be sure to mention it at your consultation and we will make sure everything is set up and ready for you the day of your session!

We are getting ready for cooler (and cold) weather by upgrading and adding new studio sets. We are really excited about our new WINDOW LIGHT (North Light) set. We will be adding new examples to our website images soon. As you probably know, North light windows provide very soft directional light for dramatic impact whereas in the old days of film we had to worry about the blue color cast from the cool light coming through windows. In the digital era, we can white balance to neutral or even produce a warm cast when desired.

On a related note, if any of you are wanting outside portraits with greenery, call soon. The leaves are dropping and the first freeze usually occurs in November. Foliage will not return in abundance until next summer.

We're excited to begin expanding our product line to include more fine-art looks such as texture screens and fine art paper. We've also begun working with metallic paper, which works especially well with black and white images to establish a high-impact dramatic look. Custom Coffee Table Books: We are getting more and more requests for our coffee table books. When you come in for your consultation, be sure to ask to see our demo copy and provide you with more information on purchasing a custom coffee table book of your own!

Custom Play Lists for Your Session: As most of you know, we add to the fun of our sessions by playing CD's with popular music during our clients sessions. We are currently in the process of transferring our music collection and CD's onto our new iPod, making it even easier for us to customize the play lists we use in our sessions. You can now request music by your favorite artist(s) to be added to our play lists! Just let us know ahead of time at your consultation or when scheduling your session and we will customize our music for you!

2008 Senior Representative Program: Many 2008 seniors have taken advantage of the large discounts and bonuses being offered through our senior representative program. If your school has a senior representative, remember that the biggest discounts are for the summer (expiring August 15th). If your school does not have a senior representative and you are interested in becoming one, please give us a call! (474.8484)

We are very pleased to announce that Kristen welcomed her second daughter, Joslyn Dae on Friday June 29th!! Kristen will be out on maternity leave until early August, and we will anxiously be awaiting her return!

New Option for Business Group Portraits!! We have a new service for our business clients who work for companies who use group portraits for advertising. Where in the past the group shots had to be redone with each personnel change, the groups can now be assembled from individual poses! That way, when a new employee enters the company, new group portraits can be made by adding an individual session and a few other charges (retouching time, final prints, etc.) You save substantial makeup and retouching charges and your own costs of having a large group of employees out of production at one time. Call for details!

New Studio Camera! We just received our new Fuji S-5 digital camera. It has a one-of-a-kind chip that produces a tremendous increase in dynamic range over traditional digital camera chips. This will greatly enhance highlights and shadow detail and reduce many of the problems associated with shooting in high contrast lighting situations (such as shooting outside or a bright, sunny day). It also has a much larger image preview screen to help monitor in shoot progress.

We are in the testing process, and hope to put the camera into production by next week.

Gallery Wrap Canvas Prints: We are excited to announce a new product for our clients! Gallery wrap images are printed on premium art canvas and wrapped around a wooden stretcher frame. Instead of having the sides plain (to be covered by a frame), the image is wrapped around the sides of the mounted canvas so that the mounted print will have a museum quality presentation without a frame.

Showcase Awards: We received a new Showcase Award last week on one of our profile images on www.OneModelPlace.com. That brings our total award count to 30!
